The primary duties of the Maintenance/Relief Operator role is to perform various maintenance, installations, repairs and troubleshooting of the plant equipment to ensure the successful operation of the water plant and any associated facilities.
This will include troubleshooting, installation, maintainenance, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance duties on the equipment at the wastewater treatmeant plants, including, but not limited to, pumps, blowers, motors, chemical feed equipment, screens, mixers, filters, flow meters, gauges, washwater processing equipment and related instrumentation and control equipment.
This role requires the incumbent to maintain all necessary records, tools, and work equipment. Other duties may include light construction projects, such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, etc.
Some water and chemical sampling, testing and laboratory analysis will be required to monitor the wastewater process and to determine compliance with Federal, State, Local and Company standards.
In addition, the Relief Operator duties will require the incumbent to assume the duties of the Plant Operator in the absence of the Operator (approx. 8-10 weeks per year). These duties will include proper monitoring and operations of the plant, performing delivery, loading and unloading of water treatment chemicals into storage, as well as inventory.
- Candidates must have mechancial ability sufficient to understand the operation of pumps, valves, motors, and other mechanical equipmeent related to plant operation and maintenance. Specific water/wastewater experience is a plus.
- Prior experience maintaining equipment in an industrial setting is preferred.
- Technical college course work and/or a degree in electrical, electronics, or applicable engineering curriculum is desirable.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
