Serves as part of the Snyder House staff, Addiction Services providing addiction related psychological and social assessments as part of the intake procedure.
Conducts therapeutic in depth counseling in accordance with specific guidelines.
Contribute to Multi-disciplinaryTreatment Team (MTT) decisions concerning appropriate treatment planning and contingencies required for the therapeutic progress of individuals.
Administers psychological tests (Brief Addiction Monitor, etc.) to clients, observing and recording clients reaction.
Maintains the integrity of urine samples to verify compliance with conditions of treatment.
Administers Breathalyzer tests to clients to calculate blood alcohol content.
Develops and maintains communications, rapport and positive working relationships with a variety of institutions, organizations and service providers.

Qualifications & Evaluations
Applicants must have successfully completed of a full four (4) year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to an Addiction Therapist. Four (4) years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that you have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field of Addiction Therapy.
A combination of education and experience that provided you with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field of Addiction Therapy. (Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of *specialized experience equivalent to the nextlower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal Service with responsibilities close to the work of this position that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of an Addiction Therapist. *Specialized experience is experience providing substance abuse therapy to a wide variety of patients; screening patients to identify the existence of substance abuse; devising graduated treatment plans with multidisciplinary team members; providing group and individual counseling; and administering specialized/diversified treatments for patients with substance abuse problems.

Physical demand are not a requirement of this position but the employee will need a high level of energy which will allow him/her to address multiple issues coming from a variety of individuals and groups. Because of the location of the clinic he/she will find it necessary to travel to the main hospital in all types of weather.
